ATHENA, THE UNIT DOSE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM @ HIC HOSPITAL INTERNACIONAL DE COLOMBIA
HIC, Hospital Internacional de Colombia, is a hospital complex born in Bucaramanga in July 2016, within the ecosystem of FCV health services (Fundación Cardiovascular de Colombia - one of the best medical institutions in the whole Latin America).
HIC has been designed and created according to the most demanding models of medical architecture and the worldwide high standards of quality and safety. In fact, the institute has chosen Athena the unit dose management system for packaging and dispensing the medication to the patients in order to meet the needs of society in terms of health and safety.
The unit dose management system is a tool for patient safety and for implementing “Lean Thinking” in the drug supply chain. The impact of Athena allows the full risk management and reduces the hospital medication expenditure and improves the logistics processes.
HIC covers an area of 240,000 square meters (86,000 occupied by the hospital) and will have 1,192 beds, 36 operating theatres, 140 intensive care unit (ICU) with 260 beds, the highest number in the country. More information: www.fcv.org
